Is UpstartRadar free?
Yes. Listing a project, backing, commenting, earning reputation and spending credits are free for everyone, and always will be.
Can I pay to be featured or ranked higher?
No. Featured places cost 200 credits a week, and credits are only earned by taking part. Money can't buy visibility, rankings or the Creator Spotlight.
What kinds of projects can I list?
Apps, websites, tools, games and other projects by independent creators: new launches, relaunches, and projects that have been online for a while and need a boost. Listing takes about a minute: paste your website and we fill in the details.
How long does approval take?
Every listing is checked by hand, usually within a day. You can keep editing your listing while you wait, and we email you when it's live.
How does a project rise?
When 25 members have backed it, it rises and gets a Risen badge. Backs from accounts less than 7 days old don't count towards rising, so new accounts can't push a project up.
How do I get feedback on my project?
Add up to 3 open asks, such as "feedback on my pricing page". Members reply in your project's discussion, and you can mark the useful replies as helpful, which earns those scouts reputation.
What do scouts get?
Reputation for backing projects early that go on to rise, and for comments creators mark helpful. Every point also adds a credit, which you can spend to feature any live project. There are badges too, such as Early Believer and Helpful Voice.
Can I see how many people view my project?
Yes. Your project's Manage page shows views over the last 7 and 30 days, clicks to your website, and where visitors came from. Only you see these numbers.
Is the link to my website dofollow?
Yes, once your listing is approved. Every listing is checked by hand and links are never sold, so approved projects get a normal link that search engines follow, free. UpstartRadar is a new site, so the link's search value grows as the site does.
Does UpstartRadar help AI tools find my project?
Yes. Every project page has structured data and is in our sitemap, and UpstartRadar publishes an llms.txt guide and an open feed of live projects (https://upstartradar.com/projects.php), so AI assistants and search tools can find and describe your project accurately.
Can I suggest new features?
Founding Members can suggest features on the Founders' ideas page. Ideas that fit the site go on a shortlist, every member votes in a poll, and the top idea gets built within about 6 weeks (or we explain why not). The first poll opens at 200 members.
How does UpstartRadar pay its way?
Through clearly labelled affiliate links on the Tools page, a clearly marked sponsor in the weekly newsletter (in future), and separate tools such as RuleRadar that members can earn free. It never sells member data.
Is there a newsletter?
Yes: "This week on the radar", a short weekly email with new projects, projects that rose, creators asking for help, and the latest Creator Spotlight. Sign up on the newsletter page; one click unsubscribes.
Can I remove my listing?
Yes. Creators can delete their listing from its Manage page at any time. If we listed your project from public information, email support@upstartradar.com and we'll change or remove it the same day.
