Tools for creators
Tools we think are genuinely useful for building, launching and growing a project, and where else to launch.
"Our own product" means Nate, who runs UpstartRadar, made it. Some are sold, and some are free; the description says which.
- RuleRadar (opens in a new tab) Our own product
Keeps track of each subreddit's self-promotion rules. A$15, free for Founding Members
- Name Cheap Hosting (opens in a new tab)
Affordable domains and simple shared hosting, with cPanel and free SSL. It’s what UpstartRadar itself runs on.
- Gum Road (opens in a new tab)
The easiest way to sell a digital product, guide or tool. No monthly fee; it takes a cut of each sale, and handles payments and downloads for you.
- Kit (opens in a new tab)
Build an email list from day one. The free plan covers your first 10,000 subscribers, with sign-up forms and newsletters.
- Mail Tester (opens in a new tab)
Free check that your site’s emails (sign-ups, password resets) land in inboxes, not spam. Send it a test email and get a score with fixes.
- Google Search Console (opens in a new tab)
Free tool from Google that shows whether your site is indexed, what people search to find you, and any problems to fix. Add your sitemap on day one.
- Claude (opens in a new tab)
An AI assistant for planning, writing and building your project, from code to launch posts.
Where else to launch
Other launch sites and directories worth knowing about, with the facts creators ask about most. None of them pay to appear here. Sites change their terms, so check before you submit. If you've listed here, the launch kit on your project's Manage page fills in their forms quickly.
Product Hunt (opens in a new tab)
The best-known launch site: a 24-hour launch day (US Pacific time) of votes and comments. Best when you already have people ready to visit and comment on the day.
Audience: Tech fans and early adopters, worldwide · Checked October 2026
Hacker News (Show HN) (opens in a new tab)

Audience: Developers and technical founders · Checked October 2026
Indie Hackers (opens in a new tab)
A community of bootstrapped founders. Better for sharing your story and progress over time than for a one-off launch.
Audience: Bootstrapped founders building in public · Checked October 2026

Early-stage and beta products, shown to people who like trying new things. Free listings may wait in a queue.
